SafeScript LIVE across Victoria

The SafeScript real-time prescription monitoring system went live this month across Victoria.

It aims to address the increasing harmful use of prescription medicines and deaths from prescription medicines.

Over the past few weeks, Gippsland PHN have been delivering education events to prepare GPs for the rollout.

The SafeScript system allows prescription records for certain high-risk medicines to be transmitted in real-time to a centralised database and monitored.

From April 2020, it will be mandatory to check SafeScript prior to writing or dispensing a prescription for a monitored medicine.
