Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in Australia, with tobacco smoking the major cause of the disease. People can decrease their risk by quitting smoking and avoiding exposure to passive smoke.

The Latrobe Health Innovation Zone project will plan, implement and embed a smoking cessation initiative in the Latrobe Valley, creating a system-wide approach to encourage health professionals to ask patients about their smoking and offer support to quit.

For support and advice about quitting, see your GP or call the National Quitline on 13 78 48 (13 QUIT) or visit the Quit website
