Gippsland PHN’s Community-Led Approach to Suicide Prevention

Gippsland PHN is supporting a community-wide approach to suicide prevention in Bass Coast and Latrobe Valley.

This community-led approach is integral to building the capacity of people to greater support those facing a suicide crisis and helping people in the local community to be informed and better connected.

This is an opportunity to have a significant and sustainable impact on suicide in the region. Anyone in the community can get involved and there are many ways to contribute such as undertaking online suicide prevention training and learning about what services and supports are available in the community.

Gippsland PHN is proud to be working with Wellways to support people with lived experience to talk about suicide in their local communities and reduce stigma.

This is one of several important initiatives supported by Gippsland PHN to improve the mental health and wellbeing of our communities in Gippsland.

Suicide is a complex social issue which needs a whole-of-community approach.
