This workshop will initially update the participants with the new requirements of the RACGP 5th Standards with particular emphasis on developing a Business Plan and other related requirements. The participants will also be introduced to the components of a business plan and also commence the development of their specific Practice Business Plan, with particular emphasis on the next 12 months operations.
Mark Donato – Director, Medical Business Network
Mark is currently the Director of Membership & Marketing at Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, and is currently paying particular attention to how the College can support their members in private practice. He has over 30 years experience in health, medicine and sport. He has proven expertise in strategy, change management, innovation and marketing. Mark’s career history includes General Manager Membership & Marketing at the RACGP, CEO RACGP Oxygen and General Manager at MBF Corporate Fitness. He has also been a professional rugby administrator and coach in Australia, South Africa, England, Ireland and Zimbabwe. Mark has worked with clients across the medical, health and sports professions, assisting them to develop strategies to grow their revenue, increase their client base and introduce processes to deliver innovation
Brett McPherson – CPM, FAAPM, Life Member – AAPM, Grad Dip Business, FETC (Oxford)
Brett has more than 25 years of management experience across a variety of GP and health practices. Brett sits on a number of government and professional advisory groups and he co-authored the AVANT Practice Manager Resource Tool. Brett consults widely to medical practices and is regularly sought as a speaker for international, national and local events on a variety of topics around practice management.
At the completion of the workshop the participants will:
- Understand the non-clinical changes to the RACGP 5th Edition Standards
- Leave with a tool to map the 5th edition to 4th edition standards
- Explain and outline the benefits of developing a Business Plan
- Understand the components of a Business Plan
- Identify key measurable objectives that can measure a ‘picture of success’
- Explain the role of the Practice Manager as aa leader in the business planning process
- Identify the key financial factors that are important to the practice.
