Building Cultural Awareness & Safety: Part 1 – Cultural Journey Workshop

An invitation is extended to General Practitioners, their practice staff and interested healthcare workers to attend this education event.

This training will be delivered in two parts:

Part 1: Cultural Journey Workshop
Wednesday 15 September 2021: 9.30am – 12.30pm 
This Cultural Journey workshop has been designed to introduce participants to the impact that history has had on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We reflect on our journey and share personal and professional experiences working within the Victorian Aboriginal community. This is the start of your journey, so we encourage you to continue as you strengthen your knowledge and understanding of the first Australians and their way of life.

Part 2: Aboriginal Cultural Safety for GPs & Their Practices
Wednesday 15 September 2021: 1.00pm – 3.30pm 
This training will assist organisations to gain an understanding of what it takes to build a culturally safe practice and workplace for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The program builds on the Cultural Journey workshop where we support participants to identify some of the barriers that impact on a services ability to provide a culturally safe service.
Pre-event resources and links will be forwarded prior to session, including a Audit tool to assess your practice.
