Gippsland Primary Health Network and the Department of Education will bring together nine local secondary schools, GPs and key partners as part of the Doctors in Secondary Schools Forum to be held in October 2018.
This Forum will provide an opportunity for everyone working in the program to meet, network and have a voice on how we can improve services to provide the best outcomes for young people.
The Doctors in Secondary School Program aims to provide better accessibility to primary health care, provide assistance to young people to identify and address any health problems early and reduce the pressure on working parents.
Gippsland PHN plays a significant role in engaging local practices and health professionals to take part in the program, providing them with opportunities, such as this forum to discuss local referral pathways, needs and opportunities, as well as strategies to improve and sustain the program. Regional service provider agencies including specialist regional adolescent mental health, drug and alcohol and sexual health services will also attend this forum.
